Description

Castle Terrace, numbers 33a-47, is a terrace of Georgian houses located on Bridge Street, positioned on a slope between Wye Bridge and the town center. Each house is single fronted, featuring three storeys and a cellar, with one window on each floor. The walls are scored and painted roughcast, topped with slate roofs and narrow brick stacks at the divisions.

The upper floor windows typically consist of 3/6-pane sashes set in reveals, while the first floor windows are generally 6/6-pane sashes. The ground floor windows are usually segmental bows with small panes that are fixed but include single-pane opening lights, all set above deep plinths. The panelled doors are framed by wooden door cases, some featuring rectangular overlights and shallow wooden hoods on brackets, many of which are decorated with fretwork. Despite some alterations and variations in dimensions, the overall effect remains symmetrical.

One of the houses has a concrete tile roof and larger sashes, with 16 panes on the first floor and 12 panes above, along with a decorative panel over the door.
