Description
Sunnyside is an estate house built in the Arts and Crafts style. It is two storeys high, featuring a ground floor made of snecked and rock-faced local rubble, while the first floor is rendered and sits above a stone band course. The gables are rounded at the top and have curved kneelers supporting the freestone parapets. The roof is tiled with swept valleys and overhanging eaves, and there are tapered chimney stacks characteristic of the Arts and Crafts movement. The building is arranged in an L-plan.
The main facade is dominated by a prominent gable on the left, which features a ball finial and a large stuccoed emblem displaying the "L1" monogram, representing Llangattock, the family title, along with the motto "Celeritas et Veritas." Most of the windows are 3-light small-pane casements with stone surrounds, particularly noticeable on the first floor. There is a significant 4-light window on the main ground floor next to a hipped roof porch supported by timber posts over a stone base, leading to a boarded door. The right gable return includes a bracketed bow window with small-pane glazing, and the date 1903 is arranged in a diamond shape on the gable. The rear of the house is stepped back and features a 2-light dormer that illuminates the stairwell. The property has not been inspected.
