Description
Ventnor House is a double-depth plan building dating from the 18th century. It has a main range with a rear wing, which may have originally been a separate house. The house is rendered and painted, with Welsh slate roofs. The main facade has two storeys and four windows, with the two windows on the right-hand side set within a three-storey, slightly projecting north wing. An open, pedimented doorcase provides access to a six-panel door, with plain transom lights above. The window to the right of the door is a tall six-over-six pane sash, while the windows in the wing are similar but smaller. The first floor has standard six-over-six pane sashes on the left-hand side and taller sashes in the wing. The third floor of the wing features three-over-six pane sashes. All windows have hoodmoulds, with the main ground floor hood supported by small cherub figure brackets and cills supported on decorated brackets. A modillion eaves cornice runs along the roofline. The roof has a low pitch, with a hip design to the front of the north wing, and a stack positioned at the junction between the main range and the wing.
The right return elevation features a single window on both the first and second floors, matching the design at the front. The wing reduces to two low storeys and includes a doorway with a hood supported on brackets, five varying sash windows, and a second stack. The rear elevation was not visible during the latest survey. The interior of the building was not inspected.
