Description
Ton Farmhouse is a two-storey house with attics, dating from the 19th century. The exterior is entirely covered in cement roughcast render, although the main south elevation is obscured by creeping plants, making the wall surface invisible. The roof is made of interlocking pantiles and features rendered stacks. The building has a symmetrical double fronted central entrance plan with two equally sized rear wings.
The main entrance elevation has three sash windows with six over six panes; however, the central window on the upper floor is completely hidden by the creeper. There is a central brick porch with a pointed entry and window, both of which are also obscured by the creeper, and a six-moulded panel door is located within. The steeply pitched hipped roof is covered with interlocking tiles and has a stack on either wall.
The right return of the house is largely featureless, while the left return includes an attached stable and a sash window with six over six panes on both floors. The two rear wings have gabled ends facing north, with the north-east wing likely constructed from earlier materials. There is an early 20th-century single-storey outshut across the entire ground floor. The left gable features a first floor and a garret casement, while the right gable has a garret casement and a kitchen stack above.
The interior details were not available during the resurvey, but the previous listing mentioned moulded panel doors, shutters, and cornices, likely from the earlier 19th century.
