Description
Troy Cottage is a one-storey semi-octagonal cottage built in a Gothic style, featuring rendered walls with a colour-wash and a concrete tile roof. It is located at the western end of a larger structure that includes a one-storey and attic section with two wings: one is two storeys high and the other is one storey. The main section has a southern elevation with two bays, a high plinth, and two casement windows in segmental headed openings on the ground floor, along with two gabled dormers with barge-boards above.
The semi-octagonal section at the western end shares the same eaves line and has window openings with lancet heads and Y-shaped tracery. There is a doorway with a similarly shaped head and a studded door beneath a rustic porch on the rear elevation. The two-storey wing at the eastern end of the middle section features a half-hip roof with a lower ridge and eaves level. Its southern elevation includes a casement window with small panes on both the ground and first floors, with the lower window having a slightly cambered head.
To the east of the two-storey wing, there is a one-storey wing connected by a roofed bay, which has a porch with a gabled canopy, a slated roof, and ornate barge-boards with finials on both the northern and southern elevations. The rear and side elevations were not seen during the resurvey in June 2004, and the interior was also not accessible at that time.
