Description
The barn at Pentre-Gwyddel Farm is a Grade II listed building constructed from whitened local red sandstone rubble, topped with a natural slate roof. It is a large rectangular threshing barn that includes a cowhouse and hayloft at the south end.
On the yard elevation, there are central through doors flanked by two tiered slit vents on the north end, with upper slit vents on the south end. To the right of the main door, there is an additional door to the ground floor and a small lean-to situated between the two. The roof is plain with projecting eaves and is likely from the late 19th century.
The left gable of the barn is rendered, while the right gable features the upper part of the wall rebuilt in red brick. The rear elevation also contains slit vents, but much of the walling is obscured by later additions and lean-tos. The interior was not accessible during the resurvey, but it is believed to be a 7-bay barn.
