Description
The barn at Fairoak Farm is a Grade II listed building, constructed from red sandstone rubble with a part Welsh slate roof, while the other part features artificial materials. It is a large rectangular threshing barn that includes a gabled porch on the south side. The barn has tall plank doors beneath a bargeboarded gable, which is flanked by later lean-tos that have corrugated asbestos roofs. To the left, there is a two-storey section that features a 20th-century door below and two 2-light windows above, serving the granary. The north elevation mirrors this design but lacks the porch and has several plain openings along with more plank doors leading to the threshing floor. The gable ends of the barn have slit vents.
Inside, the threshing floor retains some of its original paving. The barn has a five-bay roof supported by principal rafters with collars and ties, two tiers of purlins, a ridge piece, and secondary rafters, all of which are intact.
