Description
This is a late 18th or early 19th century building, likely dating close to 1800, and likely originally conceived as two pairs of houses. Numbers 26 and 28 have their doorways facing the street, while numbers 30 and 32 have theirs set back. The building is a three-storey double-depth terrace constructed of brick, though numbers 26 and 32 have a pebble-dashed finish and numbers 28 and 30 are rendered and painted. It has a Welsh slate roof. The windows are six-over-six sash windows, each with a keystone and voussoirs, except for those in number 28. Number 30 had a shopfront on the ground floor in 1974, but this has been replaced with two windows. Number 32 has a roughcast exterior with a modern porch. The front doors are six-panel doors. Numbers 26, 28 and 30 have fan transoms above the doors, and flat hoods supported on brackets; number 32 has a modern canted hood. The roof is an M-shape running parallel with the street, and the front slope appears to have been altered, raising the front wall. There are chimneys between numbers 26 and 28 and on the outside walls of numbers 30 and 32. The rear elevation features sash windows with six-over-six panes to number 26, a large late 20th century dormer to number 28, and gabled late 20th century extensions to the rear of numbers 30 and 32. The interior retains some simple late-Georgian detailing.
