Description

The former goods shed of Abersychan and Talywain Station is a building constructed from yellow bricks, possibly from Ebbw Vale or Blaendare, featuring red brick window arches and a Welsh slate roof. It is a single cell goods shed with an attached office at the north end. The shed has five bays, which are highlighted by windows and pilasters on the trackside elevation. This elevation includes a plinth and strip pilasters that frame panels, each containing an iron-framed segmental-headed window. On the road side, there are two large double doors with diagonal boarding in segmental heads, along with a window similar to those on the trackside in between. A projecting canopy supported by brackets extends over the loading bays. The roof is plain, with bargeboards and a large ridge light. The south gable features an arched door for through running, which is now blocked. The north gable has a three-bay single-storey office that projects off-centre, containing a single and a paired two-over-two sash window in segmental heads, along with another window and a door on the gable end. The office has a plain roof with a brick stack. A modern extension on the west side obscures the through running doorway into the main shed.
