Description

The Church of St Thomas is a 19th-century building constructed of squared coursed limestone with ashlar dressings, while the west front is rendered. It features a Welsh slate roof and has a large rectangular shape similar to a barn, with a small chancel and a very small west porch. The church has a five-bay nave, with each bay divided by pilaster buttresses that have off-sets. Each bay contains a lancet window with a dripmould above, featuring leaded glazing. The structure includes diagonal corner buttresses, a moulded eaves gutter, a plain roof with kneelers, and a gabled bell-cote on the west gable. The west end has a window on either side of the small gabled porch, which also has kneelers and diagonal buttresses, along with a cross to the gable. Above the porch is a smaller lancet window without a dripmould and a roundel. The chancel features a triple Early English window, which was boarded up at the time of the resurvey.

Inside, the church has been stripped out except for the west gallery, which has a panelled front supported by two slim cast iron columns. The area beneath the gallery was divided into rooms with a light timber and glass front around 1960. The chancel arch is chamfered and four-centred, and a moulded plaster cornice runs along the ceiling, which is supported by five beams on corbelled brackets.
