Description
Glebe Farm is a larger gentleman's farmhouse built in the late Regency style. It features finely coursed rubble with ashlar dressings, and parts of the building are rendered. The roof is mostly hipped and shallow-pitched, covered with Welsh slate, although one pitch has been replaced with concrete tiles. The eaves overhang, and there are stone ridge stacks along with brick lateral stacks. The plan of the farmhouse is roughly T-shaped.
The front of the building has a three-window range in the main section, with 10-pane casements. There is a swept lead verandah or awning on the ground floor, which has a central doorway. The cross wing is one bay wide at the front and two bays wide at the side, featuring 16-pane horned sashes with narrow glazing bars, shallow reveals, and square hoodmoulds. Between the first-floor windows on the side, there is a small round-arched landing window with radial glazing bars.
On the rear elevation, there are 9-pane sash windows with slightly cambered heads and wider surrounds on the first floor, while the ground floor has a mix of non-matching sashes and casements. An outbuilding is attached to the side, featuring a corrugated roof and chimney, with an arched opening at the lower level to the front and outside steps leading to the first floor at the rear. An attached part-swept garden wall with another building divides off the farmyard.
The interior is believed to retain some original features, including panelled doors, shutters, and fireplaces.
