Description
Nos. 5-11 Lon-y-dail is a group of two joined semi-detached houses built in the 19th century. They are roughcast rendered with shallow-pitched hipped slate roofs, featuring overhanging eaves and brick stacks at the center ridge and sides. The layout consists of two units of equal size and design, separated by a round-arched passage, with the uphill unit set back almost to the width of the downhill unit.
The downhill unit, comprising nos. 5-7, projects forward and has a four-window range of originally small-pane sash windows on the first floor, with the center sashes being tripartite. There are long 21-pane staircase windows on the sides that break through the platband just below the center window sill level. The ground floor features additional tripartite windows and round-arched entrance doorways, which have small imposts and recessed boarded part-glazed doors. There is also a two-window range on the side elevation. The adjoining uphill unit, nos. 7-11, is nearly identical.
It is noted that No. 5 has had its windows replaced and the entrance recess has been filled in.
