Description
No. 2 Chestnut Cottages is one of a row of three estate cottages dating to the 18th century. The cottages are constructed of random rubble limestone with a distinctive ‘vertical crazy paving’ appearance to the front elevation, and feature dressed long-and-short quoins and rusticated window surrounds. The roof is covered with Welsh slate. Each cottage is a single depth, with a small rear wing. The row is two stories high, and contains six windows. The central cottage is double-fronted and sits beneath a gable, while the outer cottages have their entrances to the left and right. The cottages originally had plank doors and iron diamond lattice windows, which are now single-paned within the original frames, with three lights below and two lights above. Two red brick chimney stacks are located between the cottages. The rear elevation has undergone alterations. The interior of No. 2 Chestnut Cottages has not been inspected.
