Description
3 Bute Esplanade is a two-storey plus attic building featuring two windows. It is constructed of stuccoed brick, with a rusticated ground floor. The roofs are tiled, and there are rendered chimneys, each topped with four pots. Each house has a single gabled dormer. The building has a parapet and a heavy cornice, with first-floor windows that include cornices and architraves. There is a band course at sill level and another band course above the rusticated ground floor.
Number 4 has a bracketed cornice over its doorway with architraves, while Number 3 is similar but has lost its cornice. Both houses have porches with Minton-type tiled dados; the floor of Number 3 is tiled, and Number 4 features a mosaic floor. The inner doors are half-glazed with patterned frosted glass, and Number 3 retains its original five-panelled entrance door. The ground floor window of Number 4 has stucco voussoirs. Number 3 features a semi-circular bay window with a balustrade, a dentil cornice, and Tuscan pilasters acting as mullions, all set on a grey stone plinth. Number 3 has horned sash glazing, while Number 4 has replacement glazing. At the rear, both houses have a two-storey extension with a tall chimney stack.
