Description

15 Cathedral Road is a group of four terraced houses built in the 18th century. They are constructed of thinly coursed, rough-faced pennant sandstone with Bath stone ashlar dressings and Welsh slate roofs, featuring red brick ridge chimneys and ridge tiles. The architectural style is Quiet Gothic. The houses are three storeys high and each is two bays wide, with a large and a small bay. The ground and first floors have striking polygonal five-light bay windows with shields in the aprons and an arcaded parapet above. Above the bay windows, a triple sash window with stone mullions is set within a gable. Each house has a paired doorway set within a three-centred arch, framed by ashlar. A window is located above each doorway on every floor, with the top-floor window rising into a shared half-dormer with a slate roof. All windows are plate glass sashes. The rear elevation was not visible during the resurvey. The interior was not accessible at the time of inspection.
