Description
25 Cathedral Road is a group of two semi-detached houses built in the 19th century. They are constructed from thinly coursed rough faced pennant sandstone, featuring Bath stone ashlar dressings and topped with Welsh slate roofs. Each house stands three storeys tall and is two bays wide, comprising a large bay and a small bay.
On the ground and first floors, there are polygonal 5-light bay windows adorned with shields on the aprons and topped with a leaded roof that lacks a parapet. Above these, in the gable, is a triple sash window with stone mullions and a shell motif above it. The paired doorways are framed by moulded arches in ashlar, leading to fine part-glazed doors with etched glass in both the door and fanlight. The porches are paired and feature polished limestone columns with foliated capitals, shaped heads, and a carved panel with heads above, along with cast iron railings on the balcony.
Each house has a window above the porch on each floor, with the top floor windows rising into a shared half-dormer that has a slate roof. All windows throughout the houses are plate glass sashes. The rear elevation has not been seen, and the interior details were not available at the time of resurvey.
