2 Castle Hill

Nos. 1 and 2 Castle Hill are two houses built with local rubblestone walls, featuring red brick dressings and a colourwashed finish on the front walls. They have thatched roofs with eyebrow features. The buildings are two stories high with a single depth plan and small rear wings, each consisting of two window bays and a central door bay. The windows are casement style, with two lights on the upper level and three lights on the lower level; these are diamond paned casements, which were changed in the late 20th century. The houses have three brick chimneys with paired diamond set shafts, likely added around 1855. The original rear walls still exist and now have small rectangular window openings, while the rear wings, which have slate roofs, were added in the mid to later 19th century (the rear elevation was not seen during the resurvey). There is a timber boarded porch with a bargeboard. The interior was not inspected during the resurvey.
