Description

110 Cathedral Road is a pair of semi-detached houses built in the 18th century, exhibiting Old English Revival/Norman Shaw style. They are similar in design to the neighbouring properties at numbers 114 and 116, but with discernible differences. The houses are constructed of red brick with Portland stone ashlar dressings and have Welsh slate roofs, featuring red brick chimneys and ridge tiles. Each house is three storeys high and two bays wide, incorporating a large bay and a small bay with paired entrances centrally located. The ground and first floors feature canted five-light bay windows with plate glass. The gabled top floor is jettied, supported by carved brackets, and has a five-light timber mullioned window set within a two-tier tile-hung face. The building details include plain bargeboards, a large stack on the side elevation, and paired doorways set within timber porches with moulded columns. Each porch is surmounted by a window, and the building has a coved cornice and a dormer with a slate roof and finial. The side elevation displays stone bands and small windows. The rear elevation was not visible at the time of inspection. The interior of the properties was not accessible for survey.
