Description
The Animal Wall and Gates near the Clock Tower is a Grade I listed stone wall featuring realistic animals on alternate merlons. Located to the west of the Clock Tower, the structure includes iron gates flanked by a wall that has lions holding heraldic shields. The animals depicted on the wall to the west of the gates include a lynx, lioness, bear, sea-lion, apes, wolf, hyena, vulture, beaver, leopard, foxes, and an anteater (with a defaced snout), as well as a pelican.
