Description

The Lion Gates at Hampton Court are an early 18th-century structure designed by Sir Christopher Wren. They feature two piers made of Portland stone, each adorned with paired Doric three-quarter columns, a triglyph frieze, and a cornice. At the top of the piers are armorial plaques and lions. The outer screen walls are decorated with pineapples. The wrought-iron gates showcase intricate scrollwork, with a large central pair flanked by smaller gates on either side. The piers display Queen Anne's monogram, while the gates bear the monogram of George I.
