Description
5 and 6 Park Place is a large Gothic semi-detached pair of houses that have been modernised for use as offices. The buildings stand three storeys high, with an attic and basement. They are constructed from snecked Pennant rubble, featuring freestone dressings and weathered stringcourses. The roofs are hipped and covered with slate, and there is a central chimney made of red brick with stone upper courses.
The windows are sash glazed and set within mullioned frames. Each house is four windows wide, with paired splayed bays at the centre that stop at the first floor. The tall stone dormers have Gothic windows and flanking shafts adorned with carved capitals, while smaller outer dormers are also present.
On the second floor, there are three-light windows with cusped lights, along with single-light windows in the outer bays. The first floor features a fretted parapet above the splayed bays and shouldered-arched windows with carved capitals. The entrances at the outer ground floor bays are Gothic-arched and accessed via parapetted stairs. These entrances are topped with corbelled gabled hoods that have carved capitals on the wall shafts. Gothic windows are also found in the bays at this level. The end elevations display projecting cut-down chimney stacks.
