Description
Black Hall is a two-storey house with an attic, constructed from very roughly squared and coursed stone rubble, featuring brick window heads and a concrete tile roof. The front gable wall includes 20th-century casement windows and a pent porch. On the west wall, there are three 20th-century windows below and two above. The east wall, also made of stone rubble, has two blocked windows with 2-centred Gothic tracery; the northern window incorporates reused tracery and an original moulding made from Sutton limestone, which comes from a medieval quarry near Ogmore-by-Sea. There may have originally been a third window to the north. Between the two existing openings on the lower level, there is a blocked rectangular opening, also made of Sutton limestone. The rear of the house, which was not inspected during the resurvey, has a stuccoed gable end and a modern brick stack on the west slope of the roof. It seems unlikely that any medieval features remain, except possibly part of the south-east corner and the east wall.
