Description

Springbank Nursing Home is a three-storey building designed in the Queen Anne style, constructed from red brick and bathstone. It features outer wings and panelled brick pilasters. The hipped slate roofs have bracket eaves, and there are brick stacks topped with stone cornices. The window architraves are decorated with reeding and volutes.

The central block has seven bays and includes a lunette dormer along with a central splayed bay that has paired oculi at the outer ends of the top floor. A Tuscan colonnade is present at the centre of the ground floor, with an entablature that connects to the advanced outer bays. The tripartite windows have arched and keyblocked architraves, and the building features small-pane sash windows. There are double doors with side lights and a fanlight that open onto a raised terrace. The advanced outer wings are styled similarly, with central lunette dormers and three bays featuring panelled brick pilasters, as well as oculi at the ends of the top floor. Each end of the building has twelve window returns.

Inside, the entrance hall retains square piers, and there is a notable rear open well stair that has an iron handrail and timber treads.
