Description
Bullhouse, also known as the Old Chapel at West Aberthaw Farm, is a building made of roughly coursed local lias limestone rubble with dressed quoins and a Welsh slate roof. It is a two-storey single cell structure with a gabled roof. The entrance is located in the east gable and features a quoined doorway beneath a flat stone lintel. Above the doorway, there is evidence of a blocked window with a segmental head, and further up, indications that the gable has been raised. The south wall shows signs of two blocked windows above a 19th-century doorway. Both the south and north walls have been raised, with the north wall featuring a plain door leading to the hayloft. The west gable end has not been seen.
Inside, the building displays thicker base walling and is divided into two pens. It retains a wooden hayrack and has queen strut roof trusses that are reinforced with iron on the struts.
