Description
Tyn yr Heol is a symmetrical 5-bay house dating from the 20th century, featuring 2 storeys and an attic. The front is roughcast with quoins and a tall hipped roof, characteristic of its period, complete with bracketed eaves. Many slates are missing from the roof. The house has flush-set sash windows, all equipped with panelled shutters, though most have lost their glazing bars. A notable feature is the semicircular central timber porch, which dates from the early 20th century. This porch includes pilasters, a bracketed cornice, and small-pane glazing. The outer door is convex, while the inner door, adorned with reeded pilasters, is concave, creating a rounded lobby.
There are two slate-hung dormers with hipped roofs and 9-pane sashes. The left end wall has a single window and is attached to a 2-storey red brick extension with a flat roof and recessed, camber-headed sashes. The right end wall features a tall stair light and an attached flat-roofed 2-storey block at the rear, which includes a half-glazed door. The rear elevation showcases a gable-ended rubble cross range at the center, which is part of the original structure and is believed to have contained the hall, according to the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales (RCAHMW). To the right, there is a tall 2-storey range that runs parallel to the main block, complete with outside steps and similar sashes.
Although not accessible during the inspection, the RCAHMW describes the interior as having an ornate timber staircase accessed via a central stair-passage.
