Description

Aberavon Bridge is a structure featuring three low segmental arches and a flat deck. The spandrels and parapets are faced with coursed stone, while the voussoirs, pilasters, and cutwaters are made of tooled dressed stone. The voussoirs are crafted from pecked stone, and the raised keystones display herringbone decoration. The central keystone on the south side is marked with the dates '1842' and '1893'. The pilasters extend from the triangular cutwaters to the tops of the parapets, which include a string course and flat stone coping. The straight abutments have mostly been rebuilt.
