Description
Y Bwthyn is a single-storey and attic 18th-century cottage, oriented roughly east-west, which was formerly two cottages. The building is constructed of rubble stone and covered in roughcast render, topped with a traditional Welsh thatched roof. The northern range is taller, featuring higher eaves and ridges, along with a large roughcast chimney stack at the southern end.
The west-facing front has a modern gabled porch at the center, which was heightened in 2002. On either side of the porch are small 8-pane horned timber sash windows with stone sills and plain reveals. The southern gable end includes a small attic light with a timber lintel. The lower southern range is slightly recessed and has a single horned sash window on the west front, also with a stone sill. There is a painted roughcast chimney stack at the southern end.
Modern ground floor projections have been added to the east behind both ranges, along with small modern extensions at the northern and southern ends. The southern extension is nearly full-height and features a Welsh slate gabled roof with a painted timber barge-board.
The building has not been inspected.
