Description
Oxwich Castle Dovecote is a round structure made of local rubble limestone. Approximately two-thirds of the wall remains, but it is missing its roof, which was likely dome-shaped. The wall thickness is about 0.9 meters. There is a small access doorway located in the southeast corner, featuring a segmental arch and an inside rebate for a lost door. The low height of the arch indicates that the ground level has likely risen over time.
The exterior has small putlog holes at intervals across three levels. The stonework is fair-faced and whitewashed. The dovecote has a base diameter of about 3 meters, tapering to around 2 meters at the point where the dome would have begun. Inside, there are eleven rows of nesting boxes arranged irregularly. The flight holes leading to the exterior are similar in size to the nesting holes and are aligned in the same rows.
