Description
The barn at Ty-Hwnt-y-Bwlch Farm is a substantial structure built from roughly squared rubblestone and topped with a corrugated asbestos sheet roof. On the south-west side, there is an offset porch featuring boarded doors, and it is notable for retaining its cobbled ramp entrance. The porch is flanked by slit ventilators. At the south-east corner, there is a low-set door leading into the cow-byre, which has a timber lintel above it. The gable end showcases a fine 8-light diamond-mullioned window that has been reused, with three tiers of slit ventilators positioned above it. The barn is built into the hillside, with this gable being the downhill end and featuring an understorey.
Inside, the barn consists of four bays supported by queen strut trusses and through purlins. The threshing bay is located towards the downhill end, where vertically set flags are used at the edge. The cow-byre is also situated at the downhill end of the barn.
