Description

Forge House is a Grade II listed building that features a single-storey front range with an entrance in a lean-to on the right side. The two-storey farmhouse is located centrally behind this front range, with a later wing on the left side that forms the garden front. The older section of the house has a long single-storey projection on the right side, likely originally built as a coach house but now serving as a garage. The exterior walls are pebble-dashed and painted cream. The front range has a hipped roof, while the rear wings have gabled roofs.

The three-bay front has eaves that project on brackets and includes round-headed hornless sash windows. In the center, there is a canted bay featuring a central pedimented doorcase with panelled pilasters and a half-lit door beneath an overlight with radial glazing. The side walls contain round-headed sash windows that are offset to the rear, along with a basement door on the right side and a barred basement window on the left side. Set back from the right end wall is a lean-to entrance porch accessed by stone steps, which has a doorway with a three-pane overlight and a door with two vertical panels.

To the right of the lean-to porch, the older part of the house features two sash windows on the lower storey, with more recently inserted windows on the upper storey and attic. The steeply-pitched roof has a stack on the left side. The right gable end of the old house includes a lean-to, and in front of it, the former coach house has a blocked doorway under a keyed lintel, with a hornless sash window to its right. The garden front wing is two storeys and three bays, with the central bay under a gablet and replaced windows.

Internally, the earlier house has been modernised. The front range includes panelled doors and shutters.
