Description

The Tomb of Martyn Roberts is an obelisk-type memorial located in the churchyard of St Cenau in Llangenny. It is set within a square enclosure defined by a stone kerb. The memorial features a stepped stone plinth topped by a square base. The narrow obelisk tapers towards a pyramidal top and is placed on a stone cube and stepped plinth. Both the obelisk and the plinth are adorned with engraved texts from the New Testament, while the shaft displays scattered geometrical and floral patterns. Additional inscriptions commemorate Martyn Roberts and his son Martyn Yalden Roberts, who lived from 1846 to 1855.
