Description
The barn located to the south of Pen-y-Clawdd Court is constructed of grey pennant rubble, featuring squared quoins at the downhill end (east) and topped with a corrugated sheet metal roof. It has tall ventilation slits, some of which are blocked, and full-height, boarded threshing doors set under a timber lintel. Each side of the barn has five ventilation slits, with the three taller ones positioned at the west end. Originally, the barn included a hay tallet at the east end, which is accessed through a taking in door that has a heavy stone lintel in the east gable. The west gable is obscured by the separately listed stable range.
Inside, the barn contains five principal rafter trusses, although one is missing a tie beam. The structure features thin Queen posts, two tiers of staggered purlins, a ridge piece, and principals that are halved and pegged. The ridge piece and the secondary rafters appear to be complete and original.
