Description
71 The Watton is part of a row of four 3-storey houses, numbered 69 to 72. Each house features a two-window front and has a slate hipped roof with brick stacks along the ridge. The fronts are either stuccoed or rendered, with bands at the second and first floor levels. The first floor is adorned with Ionic pilasters. The second floor has small square sash windows, although the windows at No. 72 have been modernised. Each house on the first floor has two French casements that open onto 19th-century iron balconies. The ground floor is characterized by 20-pane sash windows set in plain reveals. The doorways are round-headed and include fanlights with petal tracery, leading to six-panelled doors.
