Description
Cathedine Hill is a roughly square building consisting of a main two-storey wing and a slightly taller three-storey service wing. It is constructed of rubble sandstone and features hipped slate roofs with tall brick stacks that are now covered in pebble-dash.
On the northern entrance front, the main wing is positioned to the right and has a doorway that is offset towards the center. This doorway is framed by a pedimented doorcase with Tuscan pilasters, panelled reveals with raised fields, and a half-lit panelled door. To the left of the doorway, there is a bay window that was added to the service wing in the 20th century. Above this, there are two 16-pane hornless sash windows set under flat stone arches, while the upper storey of the service wing features a horned sash window.
The garden front on the right side has three 16-pane hornless sash windows in the upper storey, also under flat stone arches. In the lower storey, there are two large tripartite horned sash windows beneath lintels that were inserted in the late 19th century. The rear elevation includes a tall round-headed hornless sash window that is offset to the center of the main wing, which lights the main stair. Additionally, the main wing has a blocked cellar opening and there are added projections to the service wing. The front of the service wing features three windows with horned sashes, a centrally-placed planked door leading to the stair hall, and a lean-to structure on the right.
Inside, the main wing has an entrance hall that runs the full length of the building, with two main ground-floor rooms leading off it. At the opposite end from the doorway, there is an open-well stair with plain balusters and ornate moulded newels. The doorways within the main wing are panelled, and the windows in the main rooms have panelled shutters. The service wing also contains a central stair hall with an open-well stair.
