Description
Brynllici is a gentleman's farmhouse built in the late 17th century to early 18th century style. It has a rectangular plan featuring a central entrance hall and staircase, with a hall to the right and a parlour to the left, both of which are one room deep. An attached barn is located on the left side of the farmhouse. The building is constructed of stone and is limewashed, topped with a hipped Welsh slate roof that has swept overhanging eaves with moulded soffits. It features tall dressed panelled stone stacks at both ends and the rear, with overflying top courses.
The main facade is two storeys high with an attic and has a first-floor range of six slightly recessed wooden mullion and transom windows under timber lintels. The ground floor has stone hoods over the windows, which do not have sills, and the windows are fitted with metal frames that include single opening casements and quarry glazing. There are three roof dormers, each with 10/10 pane sashes. A central gabled porch has been remodelled. There is a cellar entrance to the left, which is located under a stone hood, and a higher blocked entrance to the right, also with a stone hood.
On the right side elevation, there are two small square-headed fireplace windows with quarry glazing, positioned under timber lintels and stone hoods. The rear elevation features a range of four first-floor windows, all with replaced glazing under timber lintels. The centre has a staircase window with a timber lintel and stone hood, while a first-floor chimney is situated above a blocked rear doorway, with other windows having been remodelled. The building has a battered plinth, particularly noticeable on the fireplace wall.
The attached barn, which has five bays, is made of stone rubble and has ventilation slits along with a Welsh slate roof. The roof is raised over the doorway, but the doors have been lost.
Inside, the farmhouse retains a high-quality central open well timber staircase with balusters and oak treads, along with floorboards. The cross windows have internal reeding, and the front door is made of wide boards. The former hall, now a living room, features a wide open fireplace with a timber bressummer, while the former parlour, now a kitchen, has exposed cross beams that are chamfered and stopped. The barn's interior includes collar and tie beam trusses and three rows of trenched purlins.
