Description
The boundary wall running north from Porth Mawr Gatehouse to Pen-y-Dre Lodge is a Grade II listed structure. It features a crenellated parapet that steps down at varying levels beyond the gateway and curves around to the northwest, opposite Rectory Road. The wall has plain cappings, feathered aprons to the crenels, and a plinth. At the northwest end, the battlemented parapet ends, and the wall slopes down towards Pen-y-Dre Lodge. There are boarded door openings, including the former Postern Gate located to the right of the Gatehouse.
Just inside the wall at the southern end, there is an Italian stone pine tree, which is said to be one of the finest in the country. Additionally, there is a subterranean vault located behind the wall at the northern end.
