6 The Postern, including Forecourt Wall and Railings

6 The Postern, along with the forecourt wall and railings, is a two-storey row of four houses, raised above street level and set behind narrow forecourts. The houses have slate roofs with chimneys located at the centre and ends. The exterior is cement rendered. Each house features one window bay and an inner doorway. On the first floor, there are two-light casements with small panes, while the ground floor has 12-pane sash windows in plain reveals. Nos. 5 and 6 have six fielded panelled doors, while Nos. 7 and 8 have ledged doors. The forecourt retaining wall is made of stone, with 19th-century railings that have narrow uprights and standards topped with urn finials. Steps lead up from street level at No. 5.
