Description
The terraced steps in Buckland Hall Garden are an Italianate design featuring a flight of stone steps. The lower section consists of seven wide, shallow steps bordered by low parapet walls that have wide, shallow saddleback coping. The steps split into two paths, with seven steps rising on either side of a curved central wall that has a semicircular trough at its base. This design concludes with low piers topped with shallow capstones. A return of seven steps leads to a flight of eleven steps that ascends to a gateway, marked by piers made of tooled stone blocks, which serves as the entrance to the terraced woodland walks. The stonework is laid in narrow courses, with stone flags used for the landings.
