Description

Ty Illtud is a house built with painted stucco and features a slate close-eaved roof along with stuccoed end stacks. The building has two storeys and three bays, characterized by raised angle quoins, moulded architraves, and later 19th-century sash windows. The upper windows have four panes, while the lower ones are tripartite with a 2-4-2 pane arrangement, located on either side of the entrance door. The door, which is a six-panel replacement from 1974, is elevated and accessed by a double flight of stone steps with wrought iron railings on both flights and a platform. Above the door is a petal-form fanlight, which was previously blocked or blind but was glazed in 1974. The doorcase features an open pediment with pilasters and entablature blocks beneath the pediment, which was repaired in 1974.

To the right of the main structure is a lower single-storey addition that is set back and includes a door and a four-pane window, along with a stuccoed right end stack. The rear of the house has an outshut and a tall double-height single bay central section that connects to a larger hipped roof extension on the left side.

The front garden is enclosed by low iron spearhead railings on a rubble terraced wall, with a double gate featuring dog-bars positioned between stone piers.

The interior has a central entrance and stair plan with a single room depth. The hall features timber floorboards, which were formerly flagstones. An original door remains in the hall, while others have been replaced. There are shutters on the front windows. The room to the right has a later fireplace and recess cupboards, with a repaired and reclad beam. The room to the left also has a later fireplace with a rack above, and recess cupboards, one of which has a rustic ogee head and shelves with a central recess. On the first floor, there is a landing with bedrooms on either side and a small central bedroom. Both bedrooms have surviving fireplaces, and the floorboards throughout are original.

The extension consists of a single room on the ground floor and a single room above, featuring a fireplace and a stair in the corner.
