Description

The dovecote at Penpont is a 17th-century square structure with a first floor that is colourwashed plaster over what is said to be brick, raised on four square colourwashed piers. It features a low door on the east side for ladder access. The roof is pyramid-shaped, covered with stone tiles and has a flat top that supports a fine octagonal timber cupola. This cupola has pointed glazed openings, timber Y-tracery, and small dove holes beneath it. The structure is topped with an ogee leaded octagonal dome.
