Description
The churchyard wall and gates for All Saints Church were built around 1870 to 1890. The wall is made of rock-faced blue lias stone and features wrought iron railings along with stone piers that have octagonal ashlar pointed caps. There are five sections of the wall to the east and three sections to the west of the entrance gates, which are flanked by serpentine walls on each side. The gates are supported by four similar stone piers, with the inner pair being larger and holding big double gates. There are also 'kissing' gates on either side, which are lozenge-shaped in design.
The wrought ironwork displays an attractive pattern of quatrefoils in bands, and the gates are designed with spearhead lower rails. It is likely that the wall and gates were designed by G E Street and were constructed either during the church's initial building from 1872 to 1874 or upon its completion in 1887.
