Description
The King's Arms is a public house located within a terraced row, featuring painted roughcast walls and a slate gabled roof. The eaves and ridge of the roof are lower than those of the adjacent building at No 102 but higher than those of No 104. There is a renewed brick chimney stack on the left and a larger roughcast stack on the right. The building is three storeys high with a two-window range, and the windows are widely spaced. All the windows are from the 20th century, with small square windows on the upper floor, longer windows on the first floor, and a four-panel door to the left on the ground floor, followed by a window in a former doorway and a wide 20th-century window on the right. The openings have thin raised surrounds, a thin sill band at the first floor, and a raised plinth. A 20th-century bracket for a pub sign is located at the second floor.
The interior has been altered since 1981. The 18th-century staircase, which had turned balusters and a wide handrail leading from the ground floor to the attic, was damaged by fire and has been partly rebuilt. This staircase was similar to others that were also lost in Spring Gardens since 1981. In 1981, there were exposed ceiling beams on the upper floors.
