Description
This is a house, likely dating to the 18th century, with a service range added in the mid-19th century. The main house is faced in painted stucco with a slate roof hidden behind a parapet, featuring projecting and ridge stacks. It is three storeys high, with a three-window front and a slightly recessed single-bay service range to the right. The main house has sash windows with 9-pane glazing on the upper floor and 12-pane elsewhere. A central arched doorway is reached by a 6-panel door (4 glazed) and fanlight. The house has chamfered quoins, a simple cornice, and a plain parapet with stone coping. A painted Ionic porch, added around 1900, features two pairs of columns, an entablature, and a cornice with half-column responds. The service wing is built to match, with mid-19th century windows, an attic with a horizontally-sliding pair, a first-floor cross-window, a ground-floor cross-window, and a low, plain entry on the right. The windows have small panes with marginal bars. A deep stone buttress of four steps has been added to the right.
The north end wall is roughcast and features a massive external stack, stepped on each side, with a 12-pane window on the first floor. A long north rear range overlooks the churchyard, with a slightly taller parallel range to the south, from which a short wing runs south. The north side of the rear range begins with the corbelled base of a 16th-century chimney, a small window above, and two smaller windows below. The wall steps out to the left, curves to the ground floor, and further right includes a first-floor triple window and a paired horizontally-sliding sash over two windows, both with stone voussoirs. The east gable has a canted angle and a first-floor 2-light window with stone voussoirs. The paired gable of the taller parallel range to the south has a 2-light attic window and a 2-light first-floor window. An angled wing to the south has two upper windows facing east.
Inside, a ground-floor room on the right exhibits Regency detail, including reeded surrounds, a 6-panel door, and an older beam encased. A marble classical fireplace of fine quality, dating from the early 19th century and originally from Neuadd, Cilycwm, is in the dining room. Exposed chamfered spine beams with run-out stops are also present. Earlier 19th-century detail includes a Tudor-arched entry to the stair hall and doors. The stair hall has a pyramid roof with a top lantern, and the stair rises up two sides to a landing. It features octagonal newel posts.
