Description
Ivy Cottage is a house dating from around 1840 to 1850. It is built of stucco with a concrete tiled roof and has red brick end stacks. The front elevation features a three-window arrangement with sixteen-pane hornless sash windows. A central four-panel door has an overlight and the door surrounds are in painted timber with a corniced doorcase. This doorcase is characterised by panelled piers, console brackets, and a dentilled cornice which projects forward over the brackets. A thin stone band separates the ground and first floors. The windows have slate sills. To the right of the main part of the house is a short, single-story section with a small-paned window.
Ashlar gate piers with concave pyramid caps support a spearhead iron gate. Modern brick walls with spearhead railings run along both sides of the entrance.
The house does not appear in a watercolour painting of Cilfig Lodge dating from around 1840.
