Description
Brynhawddgar is a two-storey house built in the simple Classical style of the Regency period, facing northeast. The exterior is rendered, featuring a low-pitch hipped small slate roof with a metal ridge and deep eaves overhang. There are two rendered chimneys at the roof ridge. The front elevation includes three windows and an open-fronted porch, with a six-panel main door that has beaded flush panels and two glazed panels. The left side elevation has two windows, while the rear elevation has four windows. A rear cross-wing is located opposite the entrance. The windows typically consist of nine panes above and twelve panes below, primarily using hornless sashes. In the gable of the rear cross-wing, there are a pair of round-headed sash windows on each floor, with the first floor windows retaining a moulded capital to a central column. The cross-wing also features a moulded string course at the eaves level, which continues across the gable; this detail has been lost on the main house due to recent re-rendering. There is a French window at the rear. Adjacent to the right (northwest) is a stables and coach-house block constructed of random rubble stonework, with a slate roof and three windows. There is some evidence of a roof being raised, along with an inserted door to the right and a low single-storey lean-to at the rear.
