Description

The lychgate and northern gate to the churchyard of the Church of St Dingat is a timber open structure dating from the early 20th century. It features a slate roof supported by base walls made of crazed red rubble stone with ashlar dressings. The flanking low walls have chamfered ashlar tops and ashlar ends, along with inner gatepiers that include quoins and chamfered heavy caps. The double timber gates consist of six panels each, with three panels open. Inside, there are four sandstone bench seats, and a plaque from 1918 is mounted on the right wall.

The upper section of the lychgate has square oak framing with arched braces supporting cambered tie-beams, with posts above. The centre post features arms that form a cross in the gable. The structure has plain bargeboards and swept eaves. To the right, a rubble stone low wall curves towards a plain iron 'kissing gate' that includes dog bars and wrought iron spearheads, all contained between stone piers topped with pyramid caps.
