Description

The memorial to Sir Gardner Wilkinson is located in the churchyard of the Church of St Dingat. It is an ashlar pedestal monument featuring an Italianate arcaded top and a pyramid cap. The structure is raised on two steps and a plinth, which has angle pilasters and a cornice. The upper part of the monument includes angle piers with caps and bases that frame an open arch on each side, adorned with pilasters and moulded arches. Above this is a deep entablature with a panelled frieze, a coved cornice, and corner acroteria. The monument is topped by a steep ashlar pyramid. Inscriptions can be found on the pedestal.
