Description
Moir House is a Georgian building from the late 18th century, with one roof truss dated 1790. It is a three-storey structure with a three-window rendered front that has undergone some alterations, originally built alongside The Limes and known as Big House. The property was divided around 1900. The house features a slate roof with dentiled eaves and brick chimney stacks. The first and second floors have small pane sash windows, with horns on the latter, while the ground floor has splayed bays from around 1900, complete with iron railings on the flat roofs, advanced dentiled cornices, and some coloured glass above the sash windows. There are arched entrances at the centre with a trellis porch, leading to a recessed six-panel door and a five-pane petal fanlight. The rear of the house is rendered and includes pyramidal roofed and lower gabled extensions.
Inside, the property retains what was the main staircase to Big House, which originally featured a pyramidal lantern. The interior also showcases classical detailing in the cornices and fireplaces.
