Description
The Boathouse and Dylan Thomas's Tool-shed Study is a 2-storey building located above and at right angles to the foreshore, with a revetment wall at the northwest end, accessible by a modern staircase. The front features three windows on the upper floor and two on the lower, all rendered, with a plinth, a slate roof, and brick chimney stacks at either end. The small-pane sash windows with margins flank a fixed paired light window above a boarded door. The rear of the building has casement windows and includes a 3-storey section with an outside staircase and a verandah.
Adjacent to the main structure is a single-storey shed with a pitched roof, vertically boarded, featuring casement windows and double doors on the west end. The interior has been preserved as Dylan Thomas left it; he referred to it as his "water and tree room on the cliff." The building was originally constructed as a garage for Laugharne's first car.
