Description
The Former Ogof Weaving Shed is a long, single-storey building made of limewashed, coursed rubble, topped with a corrugated tin sheet roof. Originally described by Anthony Dolwion as a small dwelling flanked by woollen workshops, it consists of three connected sections under one roof. The northern section covers about half the building's length and features a small four-pane fixed timber casement window immediately to the right of the northern angle. Further along, there is a short section of wall that is set back from the main line, with a matching four-pane casement window next to a pair of boarded timber doors that form an entrance.
The middle section was the original dwelling, which has a marginal glazed casement window on the left and a four-pane casement window on the right, flanking a small boarded timber door with a stone step. The right section is slightly higher and includes a small four-pane casement window to the left of another pair of boarded timber doors.
Internally, the building is divided into two sections, with the original dwelling surrounded by workshops. The left section features a compressed earthen floor and retains original rough-hewn timber roof trusses, which are pegged at the joints and support a series of branches used as purlins. A fine layer of thin branches, which support a decaying straw thatch roof, is concealed externally by the modern corrugated sheets. The central and right sections have been joined internally, with two short lengths of boarded internal wall still visible towards the northern side. The former central section keeps its original roof trusses, while the right section has much later machine-cut roof timbers that have replaced the original structure.
